The Dancer
Vanessa Tamburi was born in Rome. She attended the National Academy of Rome from 1978 to 1985 and, in 1986/1987, completed her studies at the MUDRA in Brussels (Maurice Béjart’s School).
In July 87, Pierre Lacotte and Ghislaine Thesmar offer her a contract with the "Ballets de Monte-Carlo" (Jean-Yves Esquerre and Jean-Christophe Maillot follow as directors). In 1992, she became a Soloist. The same year she received the Positano-Leonide Massine Prize as Italian revelation.
In August 94, she joins the "Hamburg Ballet-John Neumeier" until September 97.
In August 97 she followed her career as a soloist at the "Wiener Staatsoper Ballet" (artistic director Renato Zanella).
During those years she danced SOLO parts in all traditional and contemporary repertoire, she inspired choreographers with new creations and she took part in a large number of Galas: Italy (Positano, Udine,..), Germany (Berlin Deutsche Oper,...), Austria (S.Polten, Vienna), USA (Atlanta).
Her extensive experience as a dancer and the continuous research of new expressive means, such as visual arts and contemporary theatre, led her to explore new possibilities of visual language and movements. In June 1999 she created her first choreography.
